Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1357560A1] A coarse mesh (102) is slipped over the cable (101). The hairs (103) are fixed to the mesh. The mesh is made of a flexible, elastic material. The hairs are fixed at intersections of the mesh. To fit the covering, the mesh is stored loose on a bottle-shaped tube which is flared at one end and constricted at the other. The bare cable is threaded in at the flared end, to emerge at the constricted end. The covering is dispensed progressively and covers the cable as it is advanced. An Independent claim is included for a method of covering the cable.
