Device for separating a current-carrying electrical conductor comprises housing, current connections, a conductor section, and propellant for producing compressed gas for separating the conductor section. The propellant is free from ignitable materials and the compressed gas amount required for the separation can be released from the propellant by the work of the residual current.

Die Vorrichtung ist zum Auftrennen eines stromführenden elektrischen Leiters vorgesehen und weist ein Gehäuse (3) und zwei aus dem Gehäuse (3) geführte Stromanschlüsse (1, 2) auf. Im Gehäuseinneren (4) sind ein die beiden Stromanschlüsse (1, 2) miteinander verbindender Leiterabschnitt (7) und ein Treibmittel angeordnet. Das Treibmittel dient der Erzeugung von Druckgas in einer Menge, die ausreicht, um beim Auftreten eines Fehlerstroms den Leiterabschnitt (7) aufzutrennen. Das Treibmittel ist frei von zündbaren Stoffen gehalten und ist derart ausgewählt, dass die zur Auftrennung erforderliche Druckgasmenge durch die Stromarbeit des Fehlerstroms thermisch aus dem Treibmittel freisetzbar ist. Da in der Vorrichtung Exposivstoffe vermieden werden, kann die Vorrichtung völlig gefahrlos hergestellt, transportiert, installiert und gewartet werden. Nach der Inbetriebnahme zeichnet sich die Vorrichtung durch eine grosse Betriebssicherheit aus. <IMAGE>
