Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1358980A2] The knife blade (1) has an edge (3) chamfered at an acute angle to produce a sharp cutting edge (2). The sharp edge is broken by wedges (4) with sharp forward edges facing forward to cut chips coming off the cutting edge into short sections. The knife may be sharpened by a grinding wheel with a chamfered edge which shapes the wedges.
