[origin: EP1359011A2] Method for operating a tempering device in the printing mechanism of a printer, whereby one or more sensors are used to determine the composition, filling level of filling pressure of the tempering medium with the tempering medium circuit. The actual composition representing value is compared with a stored design value, with a difference value stored in memory. If the difference exceeds a threshold value a warning is generated or the printer stopped. The invention also relates to a corresponding tempering device.
