[origin: EP1359112A1] The method involves monitoring the closed position of shaft door (7) panels with at least one contactless monitoring sensor (10) emitting electromagnetic waves (10.3). A transmitter (10.1) emits waves extending over several floors, at least during known detection phases, that are detected by a receiver (10.2). The waves are arranged so that a door not fully closed or a lock not fully engaged is detected and signaled to the elevator controller.
