The light has at least one holder for a gas discharge lamp(s) and a diffuser cage in front of the lamp if viewed from the region to be illuminated that bounds a lamp chamber relative to the region to be illuminated and at least partly consists of a material forming a partially transparent wall. The cage has a light inlet opening(s) on at least one side of the lamp chamber and the wall of the chamber opposite the cage has a light outlet opening(s). The light (1) has at least one holder (6) for at least one tubular gas discharge lamp (5) and a diffuser cage (7b) arranged in front of the lamp if viewed from the region to be illuminated that bounds a lamp chamber (14) relative to the region to be illuminated and at least partly consists of a material forming a partially transparent wall. The diffuser cage has at least one light inlet opening (21) on at least one side of the lamp chamber and the wall of the chamber opposite the cage has at least one light outlet opening (22).

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Leuchte (1) mit mindestens einer Fassung (6) für mindestens eine in diese einzusetzende röhrförmige Gasentladungslampe (5), und mit einem - von dem zu beleuchtenden Bereich aus gesehen - vor der einzusetzenden Lampe (5) angeordneten Diffusor-Korb (7b), der eine die einzusetzende Lampe (5) begrenzende Lampenkammer (14) zu dem zu beleuchtenden Bereich hin abgrenzt und zumindest teilweise aus einem eine teillichtdurchlässige Wandung bildenden Material besteht. Um im Funktionsbetrieb eine niedrigere Betriebstemperatur in der Lampenkammer zu erreichen, weist der Diffusor-Korb (7b) an mindestens einer Seite der Lampenkammer (14) mindestens eine Lufteintrittsöffnung (21) auf, und außerdem weist die dem Diffusor-Korb (7b) gegenüberliegende Wandung der Lampenkammer (14) mindestens eine Luftaustrittsöffnung (22) auf. <IMAGE>
