[origin: EP1359371A1] The light has at least one holder for a gas discharge lamp(s) and a diffuser cage in front of the lamp if viewed from the region to be illuminated that bounds a lamp chamber relative to the region to be illuminated and at least partly consists of a material forming a partially transparent wall. The cage has a light inlet opening(s) on at least one side of the lamp chamber and the wall of the chamber opposite the cage has a light outlet opening(s). The light (1) has at least one holder (6) for at least one tubular gas discharge lamp (5) and a diffuser cage (7b) arranged in front of the lamp if viewed from the region to be illuminated that bounds a lamp chamber (14) relative to the region to be illuminated and at least partly consists of a material forming a partially transparent wall. The diffuser cage has at least one light inlet opening (21) on at least one side of the lamp chamber and the wall of the chamber opposite the cage has at least one light outlet opening (22).
