[origin: WO02064423A1] The invention relates to a self-propelled underwater body, in particular a torpedo, comprising a rigid outer shell (10) that is composed of individual shell sections (11) arranged one behind the other along the longitudinal axis of the body. Said body has an electric drive (14) integrated into a tail section (111) and a battery (17) for supplying current. The aim of the invention is to adapt the energy supply, which is carried by the body to the actual energy demand required for each operational area and mission. To achieve this, the battery (17) can be composed of several, functionally independent battery units (171, 172, 173) and each battery unit (171, 172, 173) is integrated into a battery section (115) (shell section (11)). The number of battery sections (115) that are included in the outer shell (10) can be varied according to requirements and is determined by the energy demand estimated in accordance with the predefined operational profile of the self-propelled underwater body.
