Abstract (en)

[origin: DE10105521A1] The invention relates to a device and a friction separator for separating sheet-type products, such as bank notes or the like. Said device comprises a store of sheet-type products for receiving a stack of sheet-type products, an extraction device comprising a separating roller or the like comprising at least one friction element for coming into contact with the sheets to be separated and transporting them from the store of sheet-type products, and a retaining device which forms a separating gap with the separating roller, the sheets to be separated from the store of sheet-type products to be successively transported through said gap. In order to be able to separate the sheets reliably using the friction wheel separator, even after a long service life and under different conditions, the retaining force and the feeding force on the sheets to be separated are independently controlled and/or regulated in the region of the separating gap.
