[origin: EP1362652A1] The non-chipping process forms a hub on a workpiece (1). A roller (10) with an angled-tip separating edge (12) is set against the rotating workpiece. One region of material is thus branched of in a roughly V-shape. This region is then finally shaped by a final shaping roller. This roller has an axial stop surface by which an axial sector of the V-shaped branched-off material region is bounded.
