Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1362679A2] The rotor casing has a maximum radius (RM) at an axial position spaced from the respective end settings and the end radii (RE) of the casing at the two axial end settings are less than this maximum radius and/or the counter-cutters comprise a number of cutter strips (GK) forming a chop material mounting which expands against the direction of the turning rotor. The maximum radius in the axial direction lies approximately in the middle between two end settings and the rotor casing itself runs mirror-symmetrically to the center plane (MB). The maximum radius of the casing diminishes steadily towards the end settings and the end radius (RE) amounts to 45% of the maximum radius.
