[origin: EP1364752A2] The device has a multi-stage gearbox (1) in a housing (6), a shift device (2) for changing between gears with a spring-loaded sliding shift element (3) movable into several gears and a shift fork (5a,5b) acted upon by the shift element and acting on an axially movable shift wheel. The gearbox has several axially movable shift wheels (4a,4b), each of which interacts with a shift fork. The shift forks can be operated by the sliding shift element.
