[origin: EP1365053A1] A catching and holding apparatus (1) comprises a main nozzle (3) with a local action region and a catching passage (5) with a catching opening (5a) that lies in the action region of the main nozzle, and a carrier (2). It also has an auxiliary nozzle (4) arranged on the carrier in a manner that a weft thread end (9) that is located in an action region is brought by an air jet along guides (6a, 6b) into the action region of the main nozzle. Independent claims are also included for: (a) a weaving machine comprising the inventive apparatus; and (b) a method for catching, stretching, and holding a catching-side weft thread end in a weaving machine.
