Abstract (en)
The cancellation device has a laser device (10) that burns a visible marker into the postage stamp (28) and/or its surroundings with a laser beam. The laser device has a deflector (18,22), a partially transparent mirror (14) that passes light in the infrared range and reflects light in the visible range and a light sensitive detector (30). The mirror is arranged so visible light reflected from the surface passes to the detector. AN Independent claim is also included for the following: (a) a method of canceling postage stamps and other markings.
