[origin: WO02069774A1] The invention relates to a floor cleaning device (10), comprising a suction turbine (40) with a driven turbine wheel (44) that rotates about a turbine axis (54), and a substantially horizontal suction channel (35) via which the suction turbine (40) is fluidically linked with a suction opening (33) facing the floor area to be cleaned. The suction channel forms a dirt collector (67) and houses a dirt filter (37). In order to provide a floor cleaning device (10) with an overall height that is as small as possible while still ensuring a potent suction flow in the area of the suction opening (33), the suction turbine (40) is mounted on the suction channel (35) with its turbine axis (54) being aligned at an angle to the vertical.
