[origin: WO02060659A2] The invention relates to a method and to a device for reducing round timber that is bent in one plane to wood products. The round timber (12) is laterally flattened in at least the plane of bend. A first curvature of the bend is determined. The linearly conveyed round timber is treated by means of first treatment tools. The round timber is again measured, and a second curvature (80) of the bend is determined. The round timber is then non-linearly conveyed along a path of conveyance that corresponds to the second curvature (80). Advance and/or guide elements (68-78; 90) for the round timber are adjusted and positioned before the passage of the round timber at an angle to the path of conveyance in such a manner that they guide the round timber along the second curvature. During the non-linear conveyance the round timber is treated by means of second treatment tools (82, 84), said second treatment tools (82, 84) being adjusted and positioned before the passage of the round timber (12) in such a manner that they follow the second curvature (80) when the round timber passes through.
