[origin: WO02069775A2] The invention relates to a sweeper for cleaning carpets and hard floors, comprising a housing, a dirt collector having a dirt inlet, and a driven rotary brush disposed adjacent to the dirt inlet. The rotary brush is associated with a sweeping sill on the dirt inlet, via which sweeping sill dirt particles are transported to the dirt collector. The aim of the invention is to improve the sweeper in such a manner that its forward movement is not impeded by the sweeping sill. To this end, the sweeping sill is mounted on the housing in such a manner that it can be adjusted in a direction towards the floor area to be cleaned.
