Abstract (en)

[origin: WO02072315A1] The invention relates to a pneumatic percussive tool for a paving breaker and/or a hammer drill comprising a drive piston (3) which is displaceable both backwards and forwards by a crankshaft (1) and arranged in a percussion piston (4) which is displaceable both backwards and forwards. A hollow chamber (6) is connected to a compensating chamber (11) by an idling air channel (8, 9, 10) and embodied between the drive piston (3) and the percussion piston (4) in order to receive a pneumatic spring. A valve is arranged in the idling air channel (8, 9, 10), the opening and closing position thereof depending on the rotational speed of the crankshaft (1). If the rotational speed of the crankshaft (1) falls below a predetermined value, the valve (12) opens the connection between the hollow chamber (6) and the compensating chamber (11) so that a pneumatic spring can no longer be embodied in the hollow chamber (6) and the pneumatic percussion tool is placed in an idling position.
