[origin: EP1369234A1] Process for starting a production run comprises feeding ink to the plate cylinder of a printing machine during the printing process, transferring the ink stored in an ink box via an ink siphon to an inker unit assigned to the plate cylinder and consisting of rollers, and feeding moistening water to the plate cylinder during printing via a damping system. During a break in printing, the ink siphon is taken out of action, the ink supply from the inking unit to the plate cylinder is stopped, and the ink siphon is reconnected after the printing break. Preferred Features: The number of ink siphon cycles required before the start of the curve is determined depending on the length of the printing break.
