Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1369642A1] Chimney, especially a steel chimney, comprises an inner tube (1) for flue gas and an outer jacket (2) which are both made of steel, and insulation consisting of at least one insulating body molded element (3, 4) made of mineral wool, especially rock wool, between the inner tube and outer jacket. The insulation has a heat-removing layer extending over a considerable part of the periphery of the chimney and axially at least from the flue gas inlet in the direction of the chimney head. An Independent claim is also included for an insulating body molded element made of mineral wool, especially rock wool. Preferred Features: The heat-removing layer is formed by at least one channel (7) for a medium, preferably air, and defined by at least one recess extending over the periphery of the insulation. The heat-removing layer is provided with heat-transfer devices consisting of preferably laminated metal foil (6), an inserted metal pipe, a glass mat, fiber glass, or a water glass spray coating.
