[origin: EP1371305A1] The extension table has one or more top plates (TP1, TP2) above the extension plate (TP3). Underneath the extension plate is a lever mechanism with levers and associated plate couplers so that after a first extension process the levers together with the plate couples and extension plate swivel upwards into an upper rest position where the extension plate is brought level with the top plate. The extension mechanism is coupled to the lever mechanism through a coupling device so that the levers automatically move into the upper rest position through further extension process.
