[origin: EP1371420A1] Comminuting machine comprises at least one cylindrical or prismatic rotor (1) supporting cutting knives (2) on its outer surface, a filling opening (3), a discharge opening (4), and a pressing device with a pressing element (6) having a pressing surface (5) for pressing the material to be comminuted onto the rotor. The pressing element is a pivoting element which defines the filling opening on one side and pivots about a disengageable first axis arranged a radial distance away from the axis of rotation of the rotor. The pressing element pivots about a disengageable second axis of rotation and is further operated so that it pivots away from the rotor. Preferred Features: The second axis of rotation is arranged a further radial distance away from the rotor than the first axis of rotation.
