Device for processing continuous webs (30) comprises a machine frame (5) containing at least one tool (3a, 3b, 11a, 11b, 13a, 14a), and a drive device (27, 28) for the tool. The drive device has a double-row gear (2, 22) with a first and a second tooth arrangement. The first tooth arrangement has an inch graduation and the second tooth arrangement has a metric graduation. To process the continuous web in an inch format the tool is driven by the first tooth arrangement and to process the continuous web in a metric format the tool is driven by the second tooth arrangement.

In einem Maschinengestell (5) ist wenigstens ein Werkzeug (3a, 3b; 11a, 11b; 13a, 14a; 7, 8a, 8b) für die Verarbeitung einer endlosen Bahn (30) angeordnet. Eine Antriebsvorrichtung (27, 28, 29) weist wenigstens ein Zahnrad (2, 22, 37) mit einer ersten und einer zweiten Zahnung (2a, 2b; 22a, 22b; 37a, 37b) auf, wobei die erste Zahnung (2a, 22a, 37a) eine Zoll-Teilung und die zweite Zahnung (2b, 22b, 37b) eine metrische Teilung besitzt. Bei einer Bearbeitung der endlosen Bahn (30) in einem Zoll-Format wird das Werkzeug von der ersten Zahnung (2a, 22a, 37a) und bei einer Bearbeitung in einem metrischen Format von der zweiten Zahnung (2b, 22b, 37b) angetrieben. Vorzugsweise weist das Zahnrad (2, 22, 37) einen Umfang von 30" auf. Die Vorrichtung ermöglicht eine exakte Erzeugung von Zoll- und metrischen Formaten ohne Papierabfall. <IMAGE>
