Abstract (en)

[origin: WO02074623A1] The invention relates to a solar panel for space satellites, comprising a planar surface with a plurality of photo-voltaic cells (CE), arranged side by side to essentially form a grid. The cells (CE) are electrically connected in several loops (SE1, SE2, SE3), each loop comprising cells (CE) connected to each other in series, forming cell segments (SG) in parallel. Two successive segments (SG) in a loop are electrically connected by means of the extremities thereof, each loop comprising positive terminals (+) and negative terminals (-). The loops (SE1, SE2, SE3) are interlaced, two contiguous segments (SG) of the panel belonging to two different loops and the direction of current inverted starting with the first pairs of contiguous segments (SG). On said panel the negative (-) and positive terminals (+) are distributed along each loop (SE1) and on the surface of the panel, such that the positive terminals are distant from the negative terminals in order to reduce the risk of an electric arc occurring between two terminals. By means of the above, the risk of an electric arc occurring can be reduced, without increasing the cost of production of the panel.
