[origin: EP1247932A1] The shutter (1), e.g. covering an emergency exit from a building such as a supermarket, has a zone (11) of reduced resistance extending upwards for a certain height from its lower edge (4) and forming an opening that allows people through when a pressure is applied to it. The zone (11) is formed by the inner edges of two side panels that can overlap and be held together e.g. by press studs, a sliding clasp fastener, Velcro (RTM) strips or magnets. The opening portion of the shutter is fitted with a sensor connected to the shutter's drive motor, preventing the motor from operating when the opening is made.
