[origin: WO02075230A1] The invention relates to a method and a device for treating, especially cooling, a bulk product situated in the form of a layer (20) on a handling grid (10). Gas is guided upwards via the grid (10) and the layer (20). Said grid is moved back and forth in its entirety, the product layer (20) being held fast during the backwards movement. The level of movement frequency is selected so low that essentially no vertical mixing of the product layer (20) takes place. A baffle plate (30) or the like is provided in order to keep the layer (20) still. Avoiding vertical relative movement inside the product layer (20) improves the heat recovery.
