Es ergeben sich wesentliche Vorteile hinsichtlich der Handhabung, der Überlastsicherheit und der Lastwechselzahl. Der Einsatz derartiger kapazitiver Mikrosysteme kann zur Erfassung von Verformungen und zur Berechnung von Kräften, Drehmomenten u.ä. benutzt werden. Insbesondere kann das Gewicht von Fahrzeugsitzen ermittelt werden, um beispielsweise Auslösedaten für einen Airbag zu liefern.
