Abstract (en)

[origin: WO02080503A1] The invention concerns an assembly comprising an earpiece (2) and an intermediate module (3), connected to a mobile telephone. The ear pad and the intermediate module mutually communicate in two-way alternate communication, under the control of the earpiece, through a wireless microwave link, at a frequency lower than 1GHz, preferably lower than 434MHz. The audio signals coming from the telephone or from the earpiece are converted into digital form before being transmitted by a digital transmission-reception circuit using phase modulation. The transmitted signals are reconverted into analog form before being applied to an earphone (4) of the earpiece or to an audio input of the telephone. A control knob (19) arranged on the earpiece enables simultaneously to switch on the earpiece, remotely open and close the telephone line and activate a microphone (5) of the earpiece when the microphone is of the telescopic type. Said assembly enables hands free use of the telephone, without any health hazard.
