[origin: EP1375036A1] The invention relates to a cutting insert, intended for drills, in particular long hole drills, of the type that comprises a cutting edge (4) from which a concavely curved, chip removing surface (5) extends up to a ridge (6), where the curved surface transforms into a top side (1) of the cutting insert. According to the invention, a number of long narrow grooves (8) extend from the chip removing surface (5) to said top side (1), with the purpose of supplying a chip which is cut free with long narrow embossments in the shape of ridges, with the purpose of facilitating and hastening breaking of the chip. <IMAGE>
