[origin: EP1375714A1] In a process to weave a pile carpet two woven fabric layers are linked by woven threads and are subsequently separated by insertion of a knife blade. The pile weave is anchored esp. in only one of the base layers (22). The pile loops (225) are tautened by a tautened supplementary weft thread (231), which are spaced from the base layer (22) weft thread by lancets. Two woven flat base layers are linked by woven alternating pole loops and non-woven thread. The pile loops are tautened between a weft thread inserted on the pile side and a weft thread in a base layer. The non-woven thread is initially tautened between the weft threads in the two flat woven base layers and subsequently cut. The pile weave is anchored esp. in only one of the base layers (22). The pile loops (225) are tautened by a tautened supplementary weft thread (231), which are spaced from the base layer (22) weft thread by lancets.
