Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1375715A1] In a double-web loom weaving process for patterned pile fabrics, two webs are linked by two types of yarn loops (226). The two webs are then separated by a knife (41) as it slices through the loop peaks on a path between and parallel to the webs (22a, 22b), creating upper and lower woven piles (2a, 2b). The threads forming the loops (225, 225b) are tautened between a base weft (221, 222) and a supplementary weft (231a, 231b) inserted by a lancet. The lancets form an elongated slit into which the supplementary weft (231a, 231b) is inserted. The supplementary weft threads are bound and tautened by strips on both sides of the twin pile weave (2) in the slit plane. After withdrawal of the lancets the supplementary weft threads (231a, 231b) and their strips are moved by guides away from the knife which then cuts the pile loop. Also claimed is a double-web weaving loom.
