Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1375739A2] A paper-making machine has a sieve section (1) and a drying section (2) separated by a press station (3). The press station has a first press (9) with two press drums (12, 13) astride a gap (14), followed by a second press (10) with two drums (19, 21) astride a further gap (25). A web-lifter separates the moving web from the sieve (7). The first press section (9) top drum (12) is a combined press and web-separation unit. The combined press and web-lifting drum is a press/suction drum, whose suction interface (17) embraces the sieve web-lifting zone. The first press (9) drum (12, 13) rotate in contact with pressing felts (15, 16) moving either side of the web gap (14).
