[origin: EP1375741A2] An assembly (10) subjects a moving web of paper or carton to pressure as it passes (L) through an elongated gap (12) in which it is subjected to varying pressure by a shoe (14) whose position is esp. adjustable in the direction of web travel (L). The show position is infinitely variable within a given range. The shoe (14) is embraced by a belt (16) linked to a pres-element (18) and transverse wedged bar (24), displacing the shoe towards a roller drum surface (20) transverse to the direction of web movement (L). Edge motion is limited by an end-stop (26).
