[origin: EP1378615A2] Lintel (1) for a building opening receiving a frame (9) of a window or door comprises adjacently arranged lintel elements (2) consisting of brick shells (6) cast from concrete and optionally a shutter casing. A heat-insulating profile (10) inserted in the region of the frame between two lintel elements overlaps the adjacent lintel elements on the upper side of the lintel with laterally protruding edge bars (11). Preferred Features: The heat-insulating profile is a foamed hollow chamber profile (12) made of plastic and receiving a heat-insulating material.
