[origin: WO02081341A1] The invention relates to a method for tracking hazardous waste (8) containers (1) and for tracking the waste (8) deposited in said containers (1). The inventive method is characterised in that at least one identification element (2) is engraved or printed on each container (1); next, the information relating to the destination of the container (name, address, date, etc.), the information relating to the transit area (name, address, date, etc.) and the information (type, location, date, nature, etc.) relating to the waste (8) deposited in said container (1) is stored at each transit area (3, 4, 6, 10) of the container (1) on an exterior module (5, 7, 9, 11); and subsequently, said container (1) is destroyed. The invention also relates to a container (1) that uses said method comprising at least one barcode which is engraved or printed indelibly on at least one of the walls thereof.
