[origin: WO02084225A1] The invention relates to an vortex-frequency flowmeter for determining the throughflow of a liquid or gaseous medium through a pipeline, with a resistance body mounted therein, comprising lateral surfaces, running essentially parallel to the flow direction, terminating with vortex separating edges in both flow directions. In at least one of the lateral surfaces a sensor is arranged, for recording the vortexes periodically separating from the separating edges. The aim of the invention is to develop said vortex-frequency flowmeter, such as to not only permit operation in both directions, but also permit a determination of the flow direction by simple means. Said aim is achieved, whereby the at least one sensor (16) is arranged off-centre between the separating edges (8, 8.1; 9, 9.1), seen from the flow direction (20, 21).
