[origin: EP1380327A1] The winch mechanism to raise and lower scenery, and especially in a theatre, has a drum with a strap (11) wound around it to position the scenery at the required height, with a strap tension control (12). A motor control sets the drum speed as a function of the unwound strap length using a speed controller (20), a conversion module (21) and a coder/decoder (22).
