Abstract (en)
Exhaust gas system (2) for an internal combustion engine (1), especially in a motor vehicle, comprises two parallel sound-absorbing devices (3, 4). A switching device (11) guides one exhaust gas stream from the engine only or almost only through the first sound-absorbing device, only or almost only through the second sound-absorbing device, or in parallel through both sound-absorbing devices. The two sound-absorbing devices have different damping activity and/or flow resistance. Preferred Features: The first sound-absorbing device has greater damping activity and the second sound-absorbing device has lower flow resistance. The first sound-absorbing device is designed for optimal damping activity, whereas the second sound-absorbing device is designed for optimal engine performance.

Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft eine Abgasanlage (2) für eine Brennkraftmaschine (1), insbesondere in einem Kraftfahrzeug, und besitzt zwei parallel durchströmbare Schalldämpfereinrichtungen (3, 4). Eine Schalteinrichtung (11) ermöglicht es, eine Abgasströmung der Brennkraftmaschine (1) wahlweise nur oder fast nur durch die erste Schalldämpfereinrichtung (3) oder nur oder fast nur durch die zweite Schalldämpfereinrichtung (4) oder parallel durch beide Schalldämpfereinrichtungen (3, 4) zu führen. Die beiden Schalldämpfereinrichtungen (3, 4) sind hinsichtlich Dämpfungswirkung und/oder Durchströmungswiderstand unterschiedlich ausgebildet. <IMAGE>
