[origin: EP1382729A1] A textile mesh knitting machine has a latch-type needle (1) with a shaft (2) bearing a hook (3) in the vicinity of a slit (5). The tongue is moved through the slit by a swivel-drive with a spring (19) resting against end supports (23, 24) in the slit. The spring (19) centre section (25) is esp. wider than the outer sections (26, 27). The two ends of the needle bear tabs which rest between spring seats (23, 24)
