Abstract (en)
The end of the cable (2) is inserted into the contact (1) via an opening (9) in the end of the contact shank (7) until at least part of the exposed cable wires (10) are located inside a tubular part of the shank (14). A first jaw (12) in a crimping tool (4) is clamped around the shank so that the tubular part of the latter is crimped around the wires, then whilst keeping the first jaw clamped in this position, a second jaw (13) in the tool is moved over the length of the shank in order to crimp the rest onto the wires. The contact comprises a shank with a tubular part and a truncated cone-shaped part (8) forming an extension of the tubular part. The opening for inserting the end of the cable is provided in the truncated cone-shaped part.

Procédé de sertissage en deux étapes permettant de sertir un contact (1) comportant un fût (7), le fût étant muni d'une portion cylindrique (14) et d'une portion tronconique (18), autour d'une extrémité (2) d'un câble (3) inséré dans ce fût. La première étape consiste à sertir la portion cylindrique autour des brins dénudés (10) du câble au moyen d'une première mâchoire (12). Au cours d'une deuxième étape, alors que la pression de sertissage exercée au cours de la première étape est maintenue, on déplace axialement une deuxième mâchoire (13) le long du fût pour venir contraindre des parois extérieures de la portion tronconique le long des brins dénudés du câble et également le long d'une gaine (11) du câble. <IMAGE>
