Abstract (en)

[origin: WO02071102A2] The invention concerns an element for maintaining and indexing an asymmetric guiding structure (S1, S2, S3) comprising at least two optical axes, said element including at least a recess, having a cross-section in a plane perpendicular to the optical axes of the structure, so that the structure can only take up a maximum of two pairs of positions in the recess, the two positions of each pair corresponding to a rotation of 180 DEG of the structure in said plane; the cross-section of the recess being defined by at least two axes called first and second axes (X1, X2), the dimension of the recess along said first axis is greater than the dimension of the recess along said second axis. The inventive maintaining and indexing element is useful for connecting the asymmetric guiding structure to at least an optical guide of an integrated optics component.
