[origin: WO02092892A1] A shedding device in a jacquard weaving machine, comprising a retracting (14) spring in order to form a lower compartment, for example, said retracting spring being firmly anchored on one end thereof in the weaving machine or on the floor. In order to suppress resonance formation in said spring (14), a core element (22) is provided, said core element being disposed in an adjacent position with respect to the inside of the spring (14) at distanced points thereof and imposing a travel on said spring (14) which deviates from the straight progression thereof, thereby creating friction forces between the spring (14) and the core element which are used to dampen the movement (14) of the spring.
