[origin: EP1388418A1] The printing method has digital image data (3) for an original provided in a pre-printing stage and converted into digital printing data (6), supplied to a printing location together with measured position and required color values (5) via a data channel (16a), for production of printing plates for a printing machine. A print sample is analyzed via a spectral color measuring system to provide print sample image data, transmitted back to the pre-printing stage via a second data channel (30b), for generation of a print sample image (32) on an image screen, for comparison with a reference image (15), the obtained result transmitted back to the printing location via a further data channel (35a) as quality control data for adjustment of the printing characteristics.
