[origin: EP1389523A1] The coating assembly e.g. at an offset printing press, to coat the paper with a varnish or ink, has a dosing unit (5) with a chamber to contain the liquid coating medium under pressure and open towards the screened application roller (3). A pressure sensor registers the pressure in the chamber (24) at the chamber doctor (4), linked to the printing press control. The control is coupled to the pump in the coating feed line (7), which develops the pressure. Surplus coating medium is carried out of the chamber by a return flow line (8) by gravity back to the reservoirs.
