Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1389602A1] The method for splicing the end of a strip of paper (18) from a new reel (19) with the end of a second strip (2) from a reel (4) which is running out comprises feeding the strips at the same speed parallel to each other. They are then compressed between a rotating knurled surface (27) and a counter-surface (34). These rotate at different speeds so that the strips are only compressed after a number of rotations which is greater than one. An independent claim is included for a machine for carrying out the method.
