[origin: WO02102943A1] The invention relates to a method for converting hydrocarbon-containing materials such as biomass to a methane-containing gas. More in particular, the invention relates to such a method, wherein the conversion takes place with high efficiency. It has been found that if at least a part of the hydrogen of the methane-containing gas flow, obtained by methanization of a fuel gas, is separated and is used in the methanization, reduced carbonization occurs and that, moreover, the methaniszation step can be carried out with simpler equipment.
