Abstract (en)

[origin: WO02097329A1] The invention relates to a device (1) for purifying contaminated waste gas by regenerative thermal afterburning. Said device comprises a raw gas line (2), at least one reaction chamber (5) with an energy supply device (6), at least two heat accumulator masses (4), a pure gas line (7) and at least one gas accumulator (9). To regeneratively exploit the thermal energy that is released during oxidation, the direction of passage in the heat accumulator masses (4) is reversible. After the reversal operation, raw gas that enters the pure gas line (7) can be stored temporarily in a gas accumulator that is connected to the pure gas line (7) and can be subsequently recirculated into the raw gas line (2). The aim of the invention is to prevent temporarily stored raw gas from mixing with atmospheric air and the associated cooling of the temporarily stored gas, whilst ensuring that the gas accumulator (9) can be filled at a slight excess pressure. To achieve this, the gas accumulator (9) consists almost entirely of a flexible, flaccid jacket (23), which can be filled with gas to a maximum, at which the jacket (23) becomes taut.
