[origin: EP1391279A2] Controlled-flexure rollers (22) include counter-pressure components (30) between the roller casing (24) and the yoke (26). These are located on the side of the yoke facing away from the pressing gap (20). (Note that a recirculated belt exerting pressure, runs over this gap). They are used to push the roller casing away from it (20). The arrangement is provided at least in the edge zone of the adjustable flexure roller. Counter-pressure components are distributed over its width. There are controllable individually or in groups. The roller also includes conventional pressure-components (28), acting oppositely on the casing to the counter-pressure components. These have similar distributions and control options; they are located opposite the counter-pressure components. They are activated or de-activated in accordance with web width. The pressing gap (20) is heated on one or both sides. The pressing gap (20) has a curved path. Further details of guidance and support are provided.
