[origin: EP1391681A1] The method involves an aircraft acquiring an image of a terrain using a camera, transmitting corresponding image signals wirelessly to a receiver in a ground station and simultaneously acquiring measurement data by sensor device and transmitting the data to the receiver. The image signals and measurement data are digitized, whereby a defined small percentage of the pixels of the terrain image is used to transmit the digitized measurement data. The method involves a reconnaissance aircraft acquiring an image of the subject terrain using a camera (28) and transmitting the corresponding image signals wirelessly to a receiver (24) in a ground station and simultaneously acquiring measurement data by sensor device (32) and simultaneously transmitting the data to the receiver. The image signals and measurement data are digitized, whereby a defined small percentage of the pixels of the terrain image is used to transmit the digitized measurement data. An independent claim is also included for a device for real-time terrain reconnaissance.
