Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1394097A1] When switching of a passenger conveyor from low-speed operation to high-speed operation is effected, a drive motor (2) connected to conversion device (1) connected to utility power (R, S, T) is disconnected from the conversion device (1) . Subsequently, when a residual voltage of the motor (2) has dropped, the motor (2) is connected directly to the utility power (R, S, T). Even when switching from high-speed operation to low-speed operation is effected, the motor (2) connected directly to the utility power (R, S, T) is disconnected from the utility power (R, S, T). Subsequently, while the residual voltage of the motor (2) has dropped, the motor (2) is connected directly to the conversion device (1). As a result, switching between low-speed operation and high-speed operation can be effected without involvement of switching shock or noise and by means of a low-cost configuration. <IMAGE>
